Yes - you are about to look at a lot of pictures of my fiancee Nicole & I. No, I'm not sorry!

As a wedding planner, I have obviously seen all types of wedding & engagement sessions from my couples. In celebrating our engagement and planning our own wedding, Nicole, and I are focused on what is most important to us.

We are very lucky to know a ton of very talented wedding professionals, including photographers. Our engagement photographer, Sarah Stuart Photography, also happens to be one of our best friends. We loved the idea of working with her and her business partner (and girlfriend) Heather Mae for our engagement shoot because not only do they know us personally, but they understand the dynamic of a same-sex couple. I understand that not everyone has a professional photographer as a BFF but if you are planning an engagement session, I would definitely recommend couples meet (or Skype if in-person isn't possible before the photoshoot day) with their photographers before their session so that everyone can feel more comfortable with each other.

In planning our engagement session Nicole & I knew we wanted to take some photos with our dogs, Miles & Lola. We decided that these would be best to take in our home where the dogs would feel comfortable (and where we wouldn't be chasing them around or find them overly distracted).

We also knew that we wanted some sort of special "prop" to set our photos apart. Nicole's Bonneville Triumph Motorcycle plays a huge role in our lives (and how HOT is a chick on a bike?!). We loved the idea of incorporating the motorcycle into our photos, but weren't exactly sure how to make that vision come to life. We chose an area down the street from our house and lucked out with gorgeous weather. Our photographers & I all did some serious Pinterest-ing to get ideas. The day-of the shoot, Sarah & Heather were great at directing us and making us feel comfortable in front of the camera.

We finished the shoot in downtown Georgetown, D.C., where we spend most of our time eating & shopping. I wore a gorgeous bridal jumpsuit & sash from BHLDN (which was almost my wedding outfit until I found the BEST dress at Global Bridal Gallery in Alexandria).

Our wedding will be next year in Positano, Italy with 35 of our best friends and immediate families.
